Celebrating 25 Years of Legal Excellence with Doctor Cithi
As Tabacks marks 25 years of legal excellence, we continue our series of partner reflections with Doctor Cithi, Director and Head of Employment.
With experience in both the Labour Court and private practice, Doctor shares his perspective on employment disputes, the importance of careful preparation, and the responsibility that comes with advising organisations during some of their most challenging workplace moments.
The Tabacks Journey
Q: Doctor, your career has included experience in the Labour Court as well as private practice. What does being part of Tabacks’ 25-year journey mean to you?
A: Employment law sits very close to the day-to-day realities of organisations. Disputes often arise when businesses are dealing with difficult internal situations and the legal questions are only one part of the picture.
Working with clients at Tabacks has reinforced the importance of approaching those matters with careful attention to both the law and the circumstances in which the dispute arises. As the firm marks 25 years, it is encouraging to see how many organisations continue to rely on the team when facing those challenges.
Vision and Practice
Q: Employment disputes can be both legally and operationally complex. How do you approach those situations in practice?
A: The starting point is always a clear understanding of the facts. In employment disputes the detail often matters more than the theory.
Experience working within the Labour Court provided useful insight into how matters are assessed once they reach a judge. That experience reinforced the value of careful preparation and presenting the issues in a clear and structured way.
Those principles still guide the way I approach employment litigation.
What Sets Tabacks Apart
Q: What stands out to you about the way Tabacks supports clients in employment matters?
A: Employment disputes can affect an organisation far beyond the immediate legal issue. Decisions taken during those moments often have lasting consequences for the workplace.
Clients tend to value advisers who understand that broader context while remaining clear about the legal position. The team at Tabacks takes that balanced approach when working with clients. Our firm is deliberate in its fee structures, carefully considering the constraints of companies in financial distress while ensuring our pricing reflects a level of value that remains unparalleled in the industry. — Doctor Cithi
Personal Perspective
Q: What continues to motivate you in this area of practice?
A: Employment law deals directly with people and organisations. The outcome of a dispute can affect both in meaningful ways.
Helping clients deal with those situations fairly and with clarity remains an important part of the work.
